Intel Factory Grand Opening in Oregon (Replay)

Intel’s leaders celebrate the expansion of D1X, the company’s leading-edge R&D factory in Oregon.

In a webcast on Monday, April 11, 2022, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger and Ann Kelleher, executive vice president and general manager of Technology Development, led an event in Hillsboro, Oregon, to celebrate the grand opening of “Mod3,” a more than $3 billion investment to expand Intel’s D1X development factory. The event highlighted the company’s positive impact in Oregon and reiterated Intel’s commitment to U.S. leadership in semiconductor research and development (R&D). Intel’s leaders were joined by senior government officials, including U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley, U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden and Oregon Gov. Kate Brown.

​As the headquarters of Intel’s global Technology Development organization, Oregon is the heart of the company’s commitment to advancing Moore’s Law. Mod3 will provide Intel engineers more clean room space to develop the next generation of silicon technologies.
