Feb. 21, 2022 – Intel Corporation today announced the appointment of Frans Scheper as general manager and president for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Scheper, also a corporate vice president in Intel’s Sales, Marketing and Communications Group, will be responsible for Intel’s overall business in EMEA, including driving revenue growth, engaging with the local ecosystem to create new opportunities, and strengthening Intel’s existing regional customer and partner relationships. He joins at an exciting time, as Intel plans a “once-in-a-generation” investment in Europe as part of its IDM 2.0 strategy, with research, design, leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing and industry partnerships to help build Europe’s digital future.
Intel’s planned investment in Europe signals a new chapter for a region with ambitious semiconductor plans. Scheper will be responsible for Intel’s overall business and growth as it expands capacity, creating thousands of jobs.
Scheper joins Intel from ams OSRAM, where he was chairman and executive vice president of Opto Semiconductors. He brings extensive European and international market experience, having also held executive board positions at WeEn Semiconductors, NXP Semiconductors and the CEO position at Nexperia.
Scheper said: “I am delighted to be leading Intel’s growth in EMEA at such a pivotal point in the region’s future. Fortunately, the European Chips Act and Digital Decade targets show that its leadership is as ready as we are to re-build a thriving, state-of-the-art and regional semiconductor supply chain. But what is most exciting is that the scale of Intel investment will deliver so much more than chips: It will reignite innovation in the region’s digital ecosystem.”
Based in the Netherlands, Scheper holds a bachelor’s degree in business and commerce from HES Den Haag, and an MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD).
